Going to the Sun: Studio

I took a few days to complete a series of smaller works in the studio based on reference photos taken from the paint out in Glacier Park and specifically from the iconic Going to the Sun Road.  I hope you enjoy them.

Mellow Medicine, Oil on Canvas   6"x8"
The water became calm on Medicine Lake as the day drew to a close.

Goose on the Lake, Oil on Canvas   6"x8"
Wild Goose Island occupies the center of the picturesque St. Mary's Lake.  The morning light was stunning.

Around the Bend, Oil on Canvas   6"x8"
The iconic Going to the Sun Road did not disappoint as the day drew to a close.

Going to the Sundown, Oil on Canvas   6"x8"
The last light of the day brilliantly lit up the distant carpet of pine.

Lingering Light, Oil on Canvas   4"x6"
The last hints of sunlight hit the distant peaks as viewed from Logan Pass.

Summit Copper, Oil on Canvas   4"x6"
The pinnacles at Logan Pass took on a beautiful copper tone.

Cloud Cast, Oil on Canvas   4"x6"

These wonderful billowy clouds drifted across the pass and cast their shadows on the dramatic landscape.

Glacier Rays, Oil on Canvas   4"x6"
As the sun set beyond Glacier's westernmost peaks, red rays of light lit up the clouds above.
